HEALTHY EATING

        You need at least 1.5 cups of fruits (the red group) a day. Some examples of fruits are strawberries, apples, cucumbers, tomatoes, and bananas. Fruits have important vitamins your body needs to survive. You need more than 1 serving of Vegetables (the green group). Some examples of vegetables are lettuce, spinach, carrots, and broccoli. You need vegetables because they give you the minerals you need to survive. Grains (the orange group) are packed with carbohydrates, which gives you the energy you need to start the day. You need at least 1 serving of grains a day. Some examples of grains are bread, cereal, rice, and pasta. Proteins (the purple group) build muscle. You need about at least 5oz of protein a day. Some examples of proteins are tofu, chicken, and beef. Dairy (the blue group) gives you the calcium and Vitamin D you need to grow. Some examples of dairy are milk, yogurt, and cheese. You need about 3 cups of dairy a day. Remember, everyone's body is different! You may need more or less of each food group to keep your body happy and healthy. If you are experiencing problems with a food group talk to your doctor as soon as possible!
